Mine is the night, with all her stars

“Every aspect of Western culture needs a new code of ethics — a rational ethics — as a precondition of rebirth.” ~Ayn Rand

And yet, there is no precondition for spring! Night does not hold back the dawn! Winter does not hold a hearing to see if Summer is good and right. Who can control the seasons? Who can master death? If death is a surety, why not rebirth?

“Night, the beloved. Night, when words fade and things come alive. When the destructive analysis of day is done, and all that is truly important becomes whole and sound again. When man reassembles his fragmentary self and grows with the calm of a tree.” ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

There is a silent beauty in the way that the universe treats death. It is revered, yes, even feared. And yet, it is through death that life is allowed to flourish.

“I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day.” ~Vincent Van Gogh

“There they stand, the innumerable stars, shining in order like a living hymn, written in light.” ~N.P. Willis

However long the night, the dawn will break.

The Sun rises and the day breaks! Behold, the magnificence! Our lives begin. Working, walking, doing, loving, all by the light of life. It is a game that all take too seriously, yet none take seriously enough. Do we realize the direction the current is flowing? We all play a part. Every man has his job on this playing field we find ourselves. Have we really grasped the elegance of our existence?

I don’t believe that it’s possible to go through life and not be able to feel the beauty and elegant dance of life and love. 2010 is upon us, a new year! A new beginning! Rise from your beds in your houses of Turmoil and behold the dawn! breathe in the fresh scent of the morning!

A very honorable and wise musician I once knew told me that talent and artistry are the minds release of the expressions of the soul. Every soul has it’s release, and when you can find it and create something beautiful, the sun seems to shine more warmly on your spirit.

May your life shine!

“A day once dawned, and it was beautiful!
A day once dawned from the ground.
Then the night she fell,
And the air was beautiful!
The night she fell all around.

So look see the days!
The endless coloured ways,
And go play the game that you learnt
From the morning.”
-Nick Drake, From The Morning
